I found beauty & a path by a stream
There is a river in WI that runs through the bluff country that flows into the Mississippi river just north of Maiden Rock. Its a place I go just to find solace and peace when the world’s too much…. I’ve spent a lot of time there this year!
Standing by water is soothing and my work has always come from those moments where I just look deeply and completely… just spending so much time there gave me fresh work in the new year
In this challenging year,
I find more than just the beauty of this place inspires me. The focus of my recent work is tied to the environment and I can feel daunted when I look at all the change that needs to begin. But right now at my favorite spot on this river, there is a sign posted that contains a list of all the people, organizations, and government agencies, county, state, and federal who cooperated to restore this stream … farmers, fisher people, conservationists, local landowners all working together. The work is underway! I just need to find my way to join… and I realized my way is to share the images I make and this story with you.
I found a path…. to tell you the story of possibility, not for just restoration but resilience… This is the path I found by this river. I’m making art based on the beauty I find here but I’m embedding the story of the outcomes that are possible when we cooperate.
The Focus
Each month on my new page The Focus you will find new work for sale! Because the other reality of this year is that meeting face to face at open studio evenings and sales aren’t going to happen for a while. So please have a look and consider hanging a little bit of the Trimbelle in your home.
