Gift of attention

Winter at the Trimbelle

January is a time for transition, in the quiet holding, seeds are at rest, stalks are sentinels for the cycle that is underway…

After a year of stress to the usual this January has landed fresh serious shocks (sigh)..so seeking relief from them I took the chance of a mild day to head down to this slice of a river that has become a talisman and a source for work I want to do.

Wading through snow over plants that are mostly submerged I’m halted by the few that have collected enough sunlight, to emerge through the snow in an ice lace so arresting I stand amazed at the casual beauty…I drink them in then continue ‘til I reach the stream. It does not disappoint…I relax to the sound of moving water at the twin outfalls that meet at a deep pool that is a bend in this spring-fed stream.

Back in the studio, seeing relationships

In the prints, in the photos, with the textures and colors… I see what holds this body of work together and makes my hands itch to make! To combine, to layer, new work with fresh insights into what I can draw out of the prints made from the plants harvested from the buffer zone by the stream.

When my eye is awakened like this I see new relationships everywhere!
